From finding to action
The sample CollectRight report ends with a checklist rather than leaving the reader with a stack of source links. Its Red Lens example asks for the individual print number and signature-label photograph, certificate information, a dated condition and presentation report, a clear invoice structure, and shipping, insurance, returns and claims terms. Those requests follow from what the public material establishes and what it does not establish about the exact copy.
That is different from a universal checklist pasted into every purchase. An editioned print raises a copy-number question. A unique sculpture may raise fabrication, installation or transport questions. The report should make the next step proportionate to the work and to the specific gaps. The CollectRight methodology asks which uncertainty could materially change the collector’s decision and keeps public-web research separate from physical inspection.
Use it in conversation with the seller
Take one item at a time. Ask for the document or photograph in writing, identify the work it concerns and record the seller’s response. If a certificate is promised, clarify whether it will be delivered with this transaction. If a condition account is supplied, check that it identifies the exact object and is dated. If shipping terms are unclear, settle who is responsible at each point before the work moves.
An unanswered item is not automatically a reason to abandon a purchase. It is a decision point to resolve, accept consciously, or seek specialist help with. A checked box should mean the answer and supporting record are in hand, not simply that the question was asked. Keep those answers with the report and later invoice.
Leave the final judgment with the collector
The checklist cannot authenticate an artwork, examine its condition remotely or guarantee a seller. It also cannot tell every collector how much uncertainty to tolerate. Its role is to prevent a strong artist biography or attractive listing from obscuring a missing fact about the actual transaction. When all important items have been addressed, the buyer has a clearer file and a more deliberate decision—even if that decision is not to buy.
